Not botanically a palm (but sure looks like one), King Sago is a cycad & a wonderful plant that many folks enjoy growing both indoors and outside in landscapes

Cycads are known to be among the oldest plants on earth, unchanged for millions of years

Sagos can be used from full sun to shade. Your sago is very adaptable and very popular for its dark green fronds and year-around tropical look

Rated at up to 25 feet, the King Sago however are slow to gain height.  Every year, your King Sago will become more interesting.  King Sago is distinctive in growth and you can decide where to allow branching to create your own unique specimen

Male King Sagos develop a cone approximately12 inches tall coming from the center of the top. The cone is white or yellow.  We think cycad cones are a very cool feature, like these variations below

Indoors, anyone can enjoy a King Sago, especially as they are not hogs for too many hours of bright light.  Outdoors, in zones 9 or 10, plant most anywhere you like with decent drainage.  Either way, care is minimal, except for food.  You will want to feed on a normal schedule for best results
